Kickapoo Valley Cal Music is still the class of the farm - very stylish and a beauty to look at, we appreciate her for her correctness and capacious mammary system. Barn records in past years, show that she peaked at over 17 lbs of milk after producing quads in 2004. In 2006, Music surprised us by only having a single doe kid - in actuality this single birth was very good for her in that it caused her to not milk quite as much, leaving the udder a bit tighter all the way around which was a very good thing for a seven year doe. She showed her best placing 5xBOB and 1xBIS; she was the second placed seven year old a older class right behind the National Champion. In 2007, she had two buck kids and again didn't come into as much milk. It took her awhile, but she finally came around and at the National Show, she looked her best. We were proud of her when she topped the class and headed the line up in the champion class. In 2008 she again milked steadily as a nine year old as she again topped her class and went on to be crowned Reserve National Champion and Reserve Best Udder. This year Music still attended many shows, but did not have her best show year due to the removal of some tumors in her flank. Music will not be fresh this season.

Scandal is one of our favorites, and we said after her yearling year that if she comes in with a lot of milk she would be something...and she has not disappointed us. In 2007, triplet bucks again made her milk and look the best in her life. She was 10xBOB and 5XBIS and was 7th at the National Show, placing lower than her 2nd the previous year in the three year old class. In 2008 her twin does by Saga allowed her to milk well and show well. She was again 2nd place with 2nd udder and comprised 4 more BIS wins. She also is passing those strengths on to her offspring. Her daughter, Violence, finished her championship and went one time Best in Show last season. In 2009 she has been 6xBOB and 3xBIS. She is the dam of our 2009 Spotlight Sale Consignment, Kickapoo Valley A Zeus Scandal. Scandal was bred to *B STRAWBERRY FIELDS JAGGED EDGE - she had twin doe kids.

Tradition exemplifies the type of doe we are trying to breed here at Kickapoo Valley. This doe is very exciting - she has by far the finest mammary systems in the herd; high and wide in the rear and long in the fore with perfectly placed teats. As a first freshening two year old, she was 7xGCH, 4xReserve, 3xBOB, and 5th place two year old at the National Show. As a three year old, she topped her class 6x and was 11th at the National Show. In 2008 she won her class every time shown - she was 1xBOB over the other does. She also excels in general appearance with her lovely shoulder blending and strong feet. Her buck kid from 2007 is in the Diamond Dairy; he should be a winner for both type and production. Tradition is passing on her strength - she has a lovely yearling daughter and two doe kids by Jagged Edge. Kickapoo Valley Jagged Zehava has been accepted to the 2009 Spotlight Sale. Tradition had twin bucks by *B PLEASANT GROVE MIDAS LIFELINE. They are both sold.

Violence has rapidly become one of our best does; she also shows a lot of Scandal in her. She is tall and uphill, one of the tallest does in the herd, with a beautiful topline and great blending of the shoulders. Her mammary system is very strong, but was always cute, little, and immature. Given the size of her udder, we were shocked when she placed 3rd at the National Show, but Steve Richter said exactly what we were thinking, if she had it all now, what could she possibly have in the future. As a yearling she was 7x1st. At two she was nearly undefeated as a two-year old - she was 12th at the National Show given that a single buck did not give her the necessary capacity necessary to place at the top of the line. Triplets from Saga made her very capacious in 2009 - she was 3xBOB and 2xBIS - she and her dam were 1st every time shown in dam and daughter. She kidded with two bucks and a doe by *B PLEASANT GROVE SUPER SAGA. Nothing available at this time.

Whimsay, the 2006 Junior National Champion, was a repeat breeding that we made three years ago. We really liked the daughters, but had sold them both, so we were thrilled when there were three does and one buck. From the start, Whimsay was the star - she was 5x1st, 2x2nd, and 4xBIS as a kid. She did not disappoint us when she freshened last spring. Her mammary system is very similar to that of Tradition, and much of her yearling year, judges had a a difficult time believing she was a yearling. She had triplets as a yearling and all three were sold across the United States. In 2008, Whimsay had a single buck out of ++*B Hoach's Lyric Liason; he now resides in the Roeburn herd. With a single buck, she has milked well, but her udder has looked somewhat stale most of the year. Despite that, she was 1st nearly every time shown. Whimsay is huge (35 inches at the withers), but she is also a mile long. Even though she again had a single in 2009, she still milked well and did very well in the showring. Whimsay had triplet bucks by *B STRAWBERRY FIELDS JAGGED EDGE. All available.

Whynot did not disappoint us when she freshened. She is a medium sized doe who has grown well throughout the season. Genetically she is e full sister to Tradition, but she is a bit longer bodied doe than Tradition. Her udder is especially nice in the rear being very high and wide - the fore udder has become tighter as she has deepened out. Whynot has always shown well - she was 5th place Junior Kid at the National Show and 6th place dry yearling last year. In 2008, she was usually 3rd behind Whimsay and Winona, but was 1x 2nd and Reserve Champion - she only needs one more leg to finish so we look forward to her completing her championship. Whynot did not freshen in 2009, but we have brought her back into milk and showed her. Whynot looks great this season and had twin does (one died) by *B STRAWBERRY FIELDS JAGGED EDGE. We are retaining the doe kid.

Always in the shadow of the other doe kids in 2007, Xylophone did not start her show career looking as if she would be a winner. However, when she freshened we knew she was a winner. The udder is fantastic - she is tall and dairy - just a complete package in a young doe. She was 8x1st in 2008 including her win at the National Show. She is a granddaughter of Music and looks as if she could be the next in the line of National Show winners. Xylophone looked and milked exceptional this year considering she began the season with a difficult bout of mastitis. She was 5x1st and 2xReserve CH while milking nearly 13 lbs a day. Xylophone aborted three weeks before she was due and will not be fresh this season..

Xclusive is the only daughter out of our beautiful Nameworthy whom we lost in 2008 only two weeks before she kidded. Nameworthy died in her sleep, but left us two very nice daughters Xclusive and Xcitement. We sold Xcitement at the end of the season as we looked at cutting back a bit, but like their dam, both does had tremendous mammary systems. Xclusive needs to mature, but she is very tall and has beautiful teats. She was 14th place yearling at the National Show - she also was 2x1st last season over Xylophone. Xclusive milked wonderfully earning her star on one day test - among our two year olds, she began in the shadow of Xylophone, but has improved going 3x1st this season. Xclusive has not cooperated this fall and was bred back to her sire, *B PLEASANT GROVE SUPER SAGA, for May kids.

Xception was many times champion as a dry yearling and 1xBIS. Xception freshened with a lovely udder, but will require some time to mature. We especially like the rear udder, but the fore udder is a bit short. Another freshening should make her more capacious. Xception is also the dam of a lovely doe kid by Jagged Edge. Xception was 1x1st, but normally was behind our other two year olds. Xception had one doe and one buck by *B PLEASANT GROVE MIDAS LIFELINE.

Yidish was one of our favorite kids last year; she was 1xBIS and 3rd Intermediate kid at the ADGA National Show. Yidish we believe was our best yearling milker - she is tall and wide and has a wonderful rear udder and medial - her fore udder could be a bit longer, but it will develop as she does. We will strive to get a better picture this season - in 2009 6x1st, 3x2nd. As the season went on she became a bit light on her left side. She is bred to *B PLEASANT GROVE SUPER SAGA.
