JAGGED EDGE'S DAM - GCH WILLOW RUN WONDER JASMINE

1st place milking yearling 2006 ADGA National Show

3rd place/2nd udder 2010 ADGA National Show

We feel very blessed that we own this buck and believe that he is only beginning to prove his worth.  Like his dam, he is all legs and about a mile long.  We love the length and stretch that Jasmine shows and that is one of the primary reasons we wanted a buck out of her.  Another reason she is such a fine choice for a buck is because she has such a terrific mammary system.  He also has behind his dam's pedigree some of the nicest animals ever bred at Willow Run.  We use him primarily on does with good width as he is a bit more narrow than we desire; however, we are not afraid of breeding him to some of our nicest does.  The first milking daughters from him are very strong - his daughter Kickapoo Valley Jagged Zehava was 4th/3rd udder 2010 National Show.  This year we freshened many additional daughters of Jagged Edge and really like what he is doing; his daugher Kickapoo Valley Jagged Zamboni was 2nd and 3rd udder at the 2011 ADGA National Show.

We brought this buck in to use in the fall of 2009.  He is a classic cou blanc.  We chose Lifeline because we always have admired his dam and her tremendous length.  Her mammary system is also outstanding.  Looking at the depth of his pedigree the three Hoach's bucks we have owned, ++*B Hoach's California Gold, ++*B Hoach's Lyric Liason, and *B Hoach' s Lyric Landslide are in the pedigree eight times.  Lifeline's maternal sister in the Pleasant Grove herd was fourth at the 2009 and 2010 ADGA National Show and appraised FS-91 (E,E,E,E).  In 2011, Length was 1st place four year old and went on to be Reserve National Champion.  His daughter Kickapoo Valley Life Addiction was 1st place Junior Kid at the 2010 ADGA National Show.  We again plan to breed him to some of our best does in 2012.

I really fell in love with So Rare last year at the Minnesota State Fair.  Her combination of general appearance and dairy character made this breeding very intriguing.  We took a chance and Be Real Rare looks very good.  He combines Saga from the top and a bit of an outcross on the bottom with some old Willow Run animals on the bottom. This buck is very dairy with a lot of natural width and correctness.  He will be bred to a large number of doe kids this season.

I am ecstatic to use this buck to say the least.  We knew that we wanted to bring back in some blood from Pride's grandsire, Petey, so a buck from Cathy is just what we wanted.  I looked at a variety of dam's, but after visiting the herd am not disappointed at all.  Pride's dam died this spring; however, we were able to see his impressive grand dam and all his paternal sisters.  All we can say is wow!  Petey is doing an excellent job and we look forward to Pride doing the same.

This guy did not want to come out and caused a lot of problems with the kidding.  As a result, his hip was a bit displaced and he has taken a long time to get going, but we believe he is going to come out of the problems that he experienced.  He looks so much like Cal not only in his color but also in his head.  We are going to try to use him on some does this fall.
